Aegean Electronics SA is a leading distributor and support center for nautical equipment and integrated bridge/navigation systems (IBS / INS) for the shipping and shipbuilding market. With long term maritime expertise invested in delivering solutions to the professional market, we have unique knowledge to support customers with a complete range of sophisticated auto steering, navigation and safety products for vessels of all sizes. Our navigation products and our integrated navigation/bridge systems are well suited for all ship types – from the merchant marine through offshore vessels and cruise ships up to mega yachts. We provide navigational products with a focus on fast delivery, simple installation, and overall cost-efficiency – from gyrocompass technologies and autopilots/steering systems through radars to ECDIS. We also offer Integrated Bridge Systems, from standard systems for basic IMO compliance to advanced systems with multiple workplaces and access to any functions from any place. Integrated redundancies and smart integration with other bridge systems and navigational aids help to reach highest standards of safety, efficiency, ergonomics, and ease of operation.
Steering
Our highly accurate, safe and flexible manual steering gear control systems can be configured according to any customer requirements. With the experience of numerous autopilot installations, Aegean provides different series of (adaptive and non-adaptive) autopilots, corresponding to the requirements of different vessel types. These can operate as heading control systems or track control systems and use various heading sensors, such as magnetic, satellite or sophisticated and cutting-edge gyrocompasses. The ultimate marine motion sensor, the MRU, is indispensable for any maritime operation that needs accuracy in attitude determination and motion compensation with extremely high reliability in the most demanding marine environments.
Navigation
Our navigation products are well suited for all ship types – from the merchant marine through offshore vessels and cruise ships up to mega yachts. We provide navigational products with a focus on fast delivery, simple installation, and overall cost-efficiency. Everything needed for a complete system, from sensors (radar, AIS, GPS, speed-log, navigation sounder, etc), to bridge navigation workstations for ARPA or ECDIS.
IBS
We also offer Integrated Bridge Systems, from standard systems for basic IMO compliance to advanced systems with multiple workplaces and access to any functions from any place. Integrated redundancies and smart integration with other bridge systems and navigational aids help to reach highest standards of safety, efficiency, ergonomics, and ease of operation.
Safety
We provide professional safety communication systems, which have been carefully designed and built for harsh maritime and offshore environments and all types of vessels. The product range includes GMDSS, LRIT, SSAS, PAGA, automatic telephones (PABX), Intercom, Loudhailers, Talkback, Sound-reception.
Retrofits
Aegean’s team looks back on many years of retrofit experience and is well trained in engineering efficient retrofit solutions for the individual customer This ensures peace of mind on every project of marine refit, retrofit, and conversions of outdated ship systems with modern, proven technology. These mid-life upgrades have proven to reduce operational costs and increase efficiency for all types of vessels. We have the experience, skills, and products to make any upgrade project a success. Our highly dedicated and specialized team focusing on upgrades is ready to revitalize your vessel. To make sure that all our refit projects are successful we follow a procedure consisting of four steps:
Our specialists carry out a site survey and prepare a site report. The report includes a suggested system layout, a detailed project milestone plan, and a cost analysis. This site report forms the basis for a delivery contract.
The system is carefully tailored to meet customer requirements and is outlined in a design document for final customer approval.
Is done while the ship is in service or during docking, either by our own team of technicians or the customers’ own staff under the supervision of our engineer.
A team of experienced commissioning engineers makes sure the system(s) are properly set to work. These engineers also take care of all needed onboard crew training.
The products used are certified by the major classification societies. Besides regulatory aspects — ship owners can take advantage of retrofitting aged navigation systems. State-of-the-art navigation systems offer better functionality, better handling of data and alarms, better safety – and the release ship owners from worries about obsolescence and end-of-support issues, spare part availability, exploding repair cost or obscure interfacing. As a result, older ships operate longer with increased efficiency and lower lifecycle costs.
The modular nature of our systems makes them particularly suited to replace existing functionality without costly redesign so they are ideal for refit / retrofit installation. Our proposed systems are available quickly, have proven in many retrofits and can replace virtually any older system. All systems are fully developed, tested and proven through a large number of installations. Further upgrades can be done at any time. To make sure your systems have a long and useful life we use current technologies and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and software wherever possible. Our portfolio includes vessels of all trades and sizes including supply vessels, research vessels, ferries, container vessels, tankers, bulk carriers, mega yachts, fishery vessels and so on. Working with the world’s largest manufacturers of maritime electronics we are in a position to provide a standard of products and services that are second to none. These extensive global service networks ensure that there will be support where your ships are trading.
