New OS for Simrad and B&G

A new Operating System for Simrad and B&G was introduced, designed from the ground up, reducing complexity and offering a beautiful experience that’s connected, fast, and easy to use. Built on Android™ (trademark of Google LLC) and featuring a new chart engine, allowing reimagined C-MAP charts that offer the best experience. With the addition of Set Up wizards and tips and tricks throughout the marine optimized UI, we’ve made simple possible.

Navigating is simple with a new redesigned home screen. We’ve made switching between applications faster with a new taskbar on the side of the screen. Opened apps will remain on the taskbar and you can also pin your favorite apps or split screens, so they are always accessible.

With the ability to instantly switch between your open apps, you’ll spend more time focusing on what is happening around you, rather than navigating your electronics. Intuitive controls give you access to key menus and the ability to switch to full screen at the touch of a button.

We’ve designed this operating system from the ground up for boaters by boaters. We have increased the size of buttons to ensure they can be used when the conditions change. Our notification center finally places all your alerts and notifications in one place, accessible from the home screen like you’d expect.

Setting up a new device is simple with the new Set Up manager, guiding you through the whole setup process. Set up not just your product, but other products connected to your MFD. With helpful hints and tips throughout the UI, as well as a device manager showing the status of connected products, this is designed to make you a better boater.

Designed for boaters by boaters, optimizing all our visuals for life on the boat. Fonts are clearer, buttons and menus are familiar, and we have created a best-in-class night mode for when you are traveling at night.

We have a redesigned chart engine that brings a new level of accuracy and presentation to C-MAP charts with fully-featured Vector Charts, High-Res Bathy, and subscription-free Easy Routing™. Fast, intuitive, and easy to use, these next-generation C-MAP charts provide tidal data, map inspector, and app integration so you can easily sync data between your Companion App and MFD.

Plan your next adventure from the comfort of your couch and then sync it all when you get back on the boat by simply connecting to your smartphone or WiFi network. Get notifications of software updates automatically, mirror what you see on the screen with your smart device, even back up all your waypoints, routes, and tracks via our companion apps.

Built on Android™ ensures a modern Operating System, that will evolve over time with new innovations, usability, and instant familiarity. While personal data including waypoints, tracks, and trails are protected. Moreover, you can sync all of it with your smartphone and tablet, so you can plan your next journey from the comfort of your couch.

The new OS will gradually be rolled out across Navico’s consumer brands over the coming years as new Multi-Function Displays (MFD’s) such as the B&G Nemesis Sailing Display, the Simrad NSX Chart-plotter & Fish-finder and more come to market.
