Simrad released s.v.25.2 for CP60, ES80 & EQ50

A new software (v.25.2) for the latest Processor Unit of Simrad CP60, ES80 and EQ50 has been released. The updated Processor Unit software is a 64-bit installation designed for Microsoft® Windows® 10 Pro and for Microsoft® Windows® 11 Pro. It is controlling all functionality, Tx/Rx, interfacing with external peripherals and sensors, plus the user interface. Furthermore, this software update solves a few software bugs that have been reported by our users or detected during our own product testing. Moreover, important new functionalities are introduced while the systems’ end-user documentation has also been updated with this software release. The following specific changes have been made:

Multiple products supported

The new software version is valid for the following products:

  • Simrad CP60
  • Simrad ES80
  • Simrad EQ50

The software license controls which product you have. The product name on the top bar changes accordingly.

The following specific changes have been made:

Determine the species you see on your echogram

  • When you use the classification functionality and place several echoes within a Zoom selection, open the Classification information panel to see whether your echoes fit the models you have established for species classification. The information panel indicates how much your selected echoes match the current models using a percentage.
  • Use the Classification page to create and save the model for the species you have identified in the Zoom rectangle. You can add as many species’ models as you like. You can also rename and delete your species models.

Olex output

A few issues with the Olex output have been resolved to meet the output requirements.

Improved current measurements (for CP60 only)

  • close to the bottom
  • close to the surface
  • in deep waters without bottom track

Improved calibration of current measurements (for CP60 only)

All functionality related to calibration has been improved, and the Calibration Wizard has been changed to reflect this.

  • Calibration Wizard dialog box #1; use the first page in the Calibration Wizard to start a new calibration process or to reprocess a calibration by reusing a previously saved calibration data file.
  • Calibration Wizard dialog box #2; the second page in the Calibration Wizard allows you to select the channel you want to calibrate.
  • Calibration Wizard dialog box #3 (Real-time); use this page to collect and process the calibration data. You can use the resulting data and calibration results immediately to calibrate your echo sounder system. You can also save the results for replay later. Once the processing is finished, you can save the results and update the calibration data used by the echo sounder system.
  • Calibration Wizard dialog box #3 (Replay); use the third page in the Calibration Wizard to process calibration data using a prerecorded data set. The data recorded from the four lines are processed consecutively. Once the processing is finished, you can save the results and update the calibration data used by the echo sounder system.

This latest software release (v.25.2) is an important update. The introduction of new functionalities and improvement in the existing functionalities will add value to your installation. So, we recommend that all users update their software. An update is essential for systems with the CP200-5C transducer and ADCP functionality.

Developed over many product generations for the worldwide fishing community these sophisticated, but also intuitive, professional systems are:

  • Simrad CP60, is a current indicator operating at 200 kHz.
  • Simrad ES80, is a split-beam fish finder operating at 18, 38, 70, 120 and 200 kHz (selectable).
  • Simrad EQ50, is a single beam fish finder operating at 18, 38, 50, 70, 120 and 200 kHz (selectable).

The Simrad CP60, ES80 and EQ50 need one or more software licenses to operate. Each software license code “unlocks” one Wideband Transceiver (WBT) or General Purpose Transceiver (GPT) for operational use with a set of predefined properties. Users do not need to obtain any new license string(s) when they update from a previous version of a licensed system. In order to obtain a software license, users must contact a Simrad dealer or distributor.
