Echoview 15 is out now!

Echoview Software is thrilled to announce that Echoview 15 is released. Our dedicated team has been working tirelessly to deliver another major release with exciting new hydroacoustic data processing capabilities. So, now our users may:

  • Discover the latest update, loaded with features designed to enhance your Echoview experience.
  • Get ready for an exciting experience with highlights including: new analysis variables, easier exports and analyses, new file format support, cruise track customizations, automatic transducer and platform settings, EK80 transducer impedance, and much more!
  • Explore powerful new features designed to boost your workflow efficiency and unlock more value from your hydroacoustic data.

Some key highlights of the new Echoview 15 are:

New analysis variables to describe the shape of aggregations, such as fish schools, are available in Echoview 15 including: corrected elongation, fractal dimension, rectangularity, and two unevenness equations. Previously, these metrics could be derived from school detection analysis variables, but we’ve now built in the equations for ease of access and to enable their use in region classification.

Echoview 15 introduces new Dataflow features to make exporting more intuitive. Meet Exporters: new objects that let you preconfigure custom exports and save them within your Dataflow. This makes it easy to repeat multiple exports in future analyses. Like other object types in Echoview, Exporters can be used in both regular EV files and EV file templates.

We continuously add support for new data types and file formats to Echoview through our ongoing collaborations with hardware manufacturers and the research community. Introducing support for:

  • Kongsberg Discovery MS70: a high-resolution multibeam scientific sonar
  • Roll, pitch, heading, and heave data in nwsf data files recorded by Electronic Navigation Ltd.’s WASSP multibeam sonar

We’ve added the ability to customize the appearance of cruise tracks. New settings are available in the EV File Properties dialog box that allow you to choose:

  • Thickness for the lines representing the cruise track path and coordinate system grids
  • Colors for the map cursor, good and bad fixes, coordinate system grid lines, and map background

Echoview can now read transducer impedance measurements for narrowband data recorded by the Kongsberg Discovery EK80 suite of instruments. Impedance statistics are calculated by transducer sector or for the transducer as a whole, and can be exported or explored using graphs in Echoview.

Echoview 15 now makes it easy to create and manage multiple platforms in the Dataflow window, allowing you to simultaneously compare data from different vessels or collection sites. Each platform can be configured to use independent sources of GPS, heave/depth compensation, heading, and more.

Create new multiple-input virtual variables with pre-selected inputs, and easily reorder input operands. New operators include:

  • Sector Select and Maximum Intensity – Matrix, both for use with MS70 data
  • Extract Transmission Characteristic for exploring impedance measurements in EK80 narrowband data
  • Extract Bottom Feature for graphing, exporting, or producing a table of bottom feature metrics

There’s much more to be found in this latest release – be sure to read the “New in Echoview 15” pages in the Help file to browse a comprehensive list of all the new features. Echoview® is the world’s premier software package for hydroacoustic data processing, delivering powerful and flexible capabilities for water-column and bottom echosounder and sonar data processing. Echoview 15 is compatible with 64-bit Win10 and Win11 operating systems and is available to all license holders with an up-to-date Maintenance and Technical Support (MATS) plan or an active subscription or lease.
