New ASTERIX sw to convert Radar video

The new Asterix server software from Raytheon Anschütz, a business of Raytheon Technologies, meets special customer requirements for advanced integrated bridge and mission systems for ships.

The software converts Anschütz NautoScan NX and Terma Scanter radar videos to a standardized Asterix CAT-240 radar video. This open standard can be read and processed easily by third-party applications, such as dedicated systems for oil spill detection radars, ice radars, weather/wave radars, and intrusion detection or combat management systems.

“The most obvious benefit is the highly flexible configuration of advanced bridge systems,” said Jan Lütt, product manager for radars at Raytheon Anschütz. “Various end-user applications can be added to the system to receive high-definition radar video and provide additional functions on the bridge.”

The Asterix server software can run on a standardized headless computer in the background and distribute either the unprocessed radar video from a transceiver or a processed radar video from a console to a defined network destination. The solution also ensures system separation between the ship navigation system and the third-party system.
