Cobham Satcom announced that with the new option to configure the SAILOR 6110 mini-C GMDSS installation, users can now stay fully IMO compliant with IMO Res. MSC.434(98) without printers onboard, as the regulation permits the use of an Integrated Navigation System (INS) or other external backup for message storage. Accordingly, this provides the opportunity to eliminate printers onboard. This not only saves space but more importantly reduces workspace noise levels, environmental footprint and costs as no paper is needed.
Some of the main issues to consider, when configuring a SAILOR GMDSS installation to a printer-less set up, are:
Software Status
The software for printer-less configuration is complete, released (Version 1.09) and available from your local Certified Partners and Service Centers
Type Approval
Already successfully approved under MED UKMA by TÜVSÜD UK and CCS. Furthermore, the Declaration of Conformity has been updated with the new Type Approval Certificates.
Technical Note
A comprehensive Tech Note (95-163805-G) detailing printer-less support and additional features has been released and is available for reference.
System Compatibility
New software features (Version 1.09) improve safety and efficiency at sea
Te printer-less configuration for the SAILOR 6110 mini-C GMDSS System represents a significant advancement in maritime communication, providing a more flexible and sustainable solution whilst reducing workspace noise levels and operational costs.
We are delighted to offer this important new update, and we are here to support our customers so that they can leverage the new functionalities, cost efficiencies and other benefits of their GMDSS installations.
