Cobham SAILOR released s.v.1.13 for 7222 Radios

Cobham SAILOR announced that a software update featuring extensive new functionalities and bug fixes is now released for the SAILOR 7222 VHF DSC Class A maritime radio. The software (version 1.13) is a free-of-charge update designed to further enhance safety and improve operational simplicity, while continuously ensuring compliance with the IMO’s Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) requirements.

Extended capabilities

The new software version 1.13 adds four major features to the SAILOR 7222 VHF DSC Class A:

  1. SAILOR Replay – Records and replays up to the previous 480 seconds of received communications, ensuring users can verify critical messages and avoid miscommunication.
  2. Built-in Power Supply Monitoring – Provides real-time visibility into power status and battery charge level, ensuring reliable operation even in demanding maritime environments.
  3. DSC Printing Function – Enables users to print Digital Selective Calling (DSC) messages for simplified record-keeping and compliance.
  4. Effortless Unit Pairing – Simplifies installation by streamlining the pairing process between the Control Unit and Transceiver Unit.

Availability and installation

The new software will be installed on all new production SAILOR 7222 VHF DSC Class A units leaving the factory going forward. It is compatible with all existing SAILOR 7222 units and can be installed only by Cobham SAILOR authorized partners. This approach ensures quality control and provides an opportunity for partners to integrate the update during scheduled service visits. Alternatively, the update can be performed as a standalone service visit.

This flexibility ensures that end-users keep enjoying all the latest advancements in maritime communication technology while coordinating service attendance with their maintenance or repair schedule. Moreover, the update maintains backward compatibility with all existing SAILOR 6222 accessories, ensuring a seamless upgrade path.
