Simrad ES80 v.1.4.3 is released

The new software version 1.4.3 recently released, adds value to Simrad ES80 echo sounders by improving existing functionality plus including some bug fixes. It is recommended that all users update their software to this latest version. The following specific improvements have been made:

• Some users reported problems with installing and using certain Combi transducers. This has been fixed.
• You can now transfer user settings older than SW 1.4.1 to the new version.
• The software download process to the transceiver has been improved.
• On long ranges the ping rate is reduced. Turning off the bottom detector should increase the ping rate, but in some cases this did not happen. This issue has been rectified.
• The ES80 now starts with “Smooth Echosounder” as default colour palette.

The following specific bug fixes have been made:

• Adjusted limits for transducer impedance and phase measurements will remove warning message.
• Simrad ES38-7 transducer can now be installed in other user interfaces than English.
• Software crash when renaming user settings has been fixed.
• Users with certain transducers experienced “Last packet lost” messages and missing echo data from the presentation. This bug has been fixed.

Certain known issues related to the Simrad ES80 software, remain pending and will be corrected in future upgrades. Issues such as:

• Context sensitive on-line help: The first time you try to search for information in the on-line help, it takes a long time to start. This is an operating system issue. The application used to open and present the online help takes this time to build the search index.
• Language issues: Some functions, dialog boxes and/or other parameters may not be translated to all the available languages.

The ES80 needs one or more software licenses to work. Each software license code “unlocks” one Wideband Transceiver (WBT) for operational use with a set of predefined properties. You do not need to obtain any new license string(s) when you update from a previous version of a licensed ES80. In order to obtain a software license you must contact a Simrad dealer or distributor.

The end user documentation for the Simrad ES80 Wideband fish finding echo sounder has not been updated with this release. The current Quick Start Guide, Operator Manual and Reference Manual are included on the ES80 software media (USB flash drive).

The Simrad ES80 is the fifth generation professional single & split beam fish finder for the world wide fishing community. The ES80 software is a 64-bit installation, optimised for Windows 10 controlling all functionality. Transmission and reception, interfaces with external peripherals and sensors, plus all user interfaces are included. The latest innovations in computer and signal processing technology are used to create this sophisticated, but also intuitive, echo sounder. It can operate with frequencies ranging from 10 to 500 kHz. With a suitable transducer, the ES80 can use frequency sweeps (“chirps”) across a range of frequencies.
