Cobham Satcom announced the introduction of the new SAILOR 4065 EPIRB GNSS/AIS distress beacon to the market. The SAILOR 4065 GNSS/AIS complies with the new IMO Standards MSC.471(101), replacing IMO A.810 (19) / A696 (17) as amended, which mandate the introduction of an AIS transmission functionality and an Infra-Red (Night-Vision) optical signal in an EPIRB distress beacon. Complying with the new GMDSS regulations, the SAILOR 4065 EPIRB GNSS/AIS has a slim, fully enclosed float-free housing, which allows for self-testing. It is also available with a quick release bulkhead mounting bracket for carry-off situations. As such it comes in two variants, for ordering:
As the new SOLAS mandated GMDSS EPIRB, they are replacing the current SAILOR 4065 EPIRB NON-GNSS and GNSS EPIRB variants for SOLAS installations. These older variants are now announced End of Life. Order placement is starting immediately with first deliveries expected within March 2026.

The SAILOR 4065 EPIRB GNSS/AIS ensures user flexibility, being distinguished by a reliable built-in GNSS and AIS functionality to provide superior Search and Rescue (SAR) services with location details. As an EPIRB, it relies on the global COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system, which can locate beacons transmitting on the 406MHz frequency to within 5km (3nm).
The SAILOR 4065 EPIRB GNSS/AIS is fully compatible with the COSPAS-SARSAT and GMDSS Regulations while meeting all the Requirements of IMO and includes the following features:
