Simrad released software v.1.0.03 for NAC-D

Simrad Yachting is pleased to announce the release of a new software v.1.0.03 for the NAC™-D Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) Autopilot Computer. NAC-D allows automatic switching between two speed profiles, delivering optimal steering performance at both low and high speeds. It comes with Continuum® steering and the new SteadySteer™ feature. This latest software update delivers the following key improvements in performance and compatibility:

  • Support added for NMEA 2000 PGN 127258 Magnetic Variation

Previously, when the NAC-D was installed with an MFD using only an internal GPS sensor, engaging auto could cause the displayed autopilot heading to be offset by the local magnetic variation. This update resolves the issue by enabling reception of PGN 127258, Magnetic Variation.

  • Improved integration with Yanmar steering systems featuring joystick control

In some cases, the Yanmar gauge could display “Helm ECU detect Failure” or toggle between “Yanmar/Generic” due to an interruption of PGN 127245 Rudder. The new software eliminates this problem.

NAC-D is a steer-by-wire autopilot solution for Electronic Vessel Control Systems (steering systems with a digital interface). With NAC -D, boaters with engine control systems from:

  • SeaStar® Optimus®
  • Yanmar® VC10/JC10
  • Volvo® IPS/EVC
  • Yamaha® helm master

can benefit from all the full features and performance of Simrad® autopilot systems.

Easy to install

Require only the connection of two Micro-C connectors – there is no requirement for an additional hydraulic pump, rudder sensor installation or dockside rudder calibration. This saves boaters’ time and money.

Automatic switching

Featuring Continuum® steering and support for the new SteadySteer™, the NAC -D allows automatic switching between two speed profiles delivering optimal steering performance at both low and high speeds.

Multiple Steering scenarios

Such as to a waypoint, heading or set turn pattern, a U turn, a Spiral turn or even initiate a zigzag turn

Choose the controller to suit user’s preference from dedicated controllers like the AP™44 or AP™48.
