SEA.AI (formerly known as OSCAR) just announced that Software Release 4.3 is now available, for SENTRY and WATCHKEEPER systems. With this latest software release fewer false alarms are triggered by rough waters, tracking stays steady even with several targets nearby, and Sentry’s color camera (also using AI detections) now helps catch what thermal alone might miss. The main improvements include:
More reliable alerts in choppy water. Breaking wave crests are less likely to be flagged as objects in rough sea states. This improves alert reliability without removing the system’s ability to detect genuine objects.
Sharper tracking of nearby targets. Objects close together are held as separate targets and followed more consistently. For example, when several small boats, buoys, or pieces of debris are close to one another, the tracker is better able to maintain them as separate targets. This reduces lost or swapped tracks and provides more consistent target behavior in crowded scenes.
Color Camera Fusion for Sentry. With RGB Fusion, Sentry’s RGB camera can contribute its own AI detections rather than relying only on the thermal cameras. This provides an additional detection source for targets that may be difficult to detect with thermal imaging alone, including some conditions involving high humidity or heat-damped environments.
Steadier live video, Streams now recover automatically after brief network drops, remain visible through source restarts, and shut down cleanly when the application closes. Furthermore, there are additional controls provided for integrators.
A simpler interface for Sentry, adding a 50/50 split dual view, adjustable display scale, and joystick brightness control.
New thermal contrast profiles for Watchkeeper, with five presets to match the image to lighting and weather conditions. The profiles allow operators to adapt the appearance of the thermal image to the lighting and weather conditions they are facing. The selected thermal contrast profile can influence detection performance. Operators should therefore choose the profile deliberately rather than leaving the system on a setting that does not match the current conditions.
