Simrad releases NEON OS 2.5 update

Simrad Yachting is pleased to announce the release of the latest NEON™ OS 2.5 delivering one of the biggest updates yet for users, introducing major new fishing, integration, customization, and usability enhancements across the platform.

More than just another software update, it represents a major step forward in the continued evolution of the Simrad® experience, bringing expanded capabilities and deeper integration across the latest generation of Simrad® chart-plotters.

Designed to deliver a more connected, capable, and personalized on-water experience, this release further strengthens the growing advantages of NEON™ enabled devices for serious anglers, offshore cruisers, and powerboaters alike.

UI & Ease of Use, NEON™ OS 2.5 introduces major user interface enhancements designed to simplify everyday operation and make key features faster and easier to access while underway.

  • Faster Access with a New Activities Bar & App Drawer

The new Activities Bar and App Drawer replace the traditional home screen with a more streamlined interface that reduces menu navigation and keeps frequently used apps, controls, and split screens within easy reach. Users can also reposition the Activities Bar and pin shortcuts for a more personalized experience.

  • Personalized Experience

New Light and Dark themes, customizable shortcuts, and the redesigned Quick Access Menu allow users to tailor the interface around their boating style and viewing preferences, whether running offshore during the day or navigating at night.

  • Smarter Alerts & System Visibility

Enhanced alerts and the new status bar provide clearer system feedback with improved descriptions, actionable prompts, and real-time visibility into radar, autopilot, GPS, and connectivity status. The result is a more intuitive experience with easier troubleshooting and greater awareness across the system.

Advanced Fishing & Sonar, built for serious anglers, NEON™ OS 2.5 introduces expanded sonar capabilities and enhanced fishfinding performance across the platform.

  • ActiveTarget® & ActiveTarget® 2

Support NEON™ OS 2.5 now supports Lowrance® ActiveTarget® and ActiveTarget® 2 live sonar systems, including combined viewing modes and support for the new ActiveTarget® 2 XL transducer. Anglers can view fish movement and structure in real time with expanded live sonar capability designed to help make faster, more informed decisions on the water.

  • Enhanced CHIRP, SideScan® & DownScan®

Performance Improvements to CHIRP sonar and SideScan®/DownScan® functionality help deliver better clarity, enhanced target separation, and greater control with adjustable scroll speeds for improved fishfinding performance in changing conditions.

  • Forward-looking Sonar Integration

Forward-looking Sonar integration with third-party EchoPilot support provides additional awareness ahead of the vessel directly on compatible Simrad® displays. With integrated split-screen functionality and on-screen control, captains gain another tool for navigating shallow or unfamiliar waters with greater confidence.

Expanded Vessel Integration, NEON™ OS 2.5 continues to expand the connected Simrad® helm experience with deeper integration across engines, anchoring systems, and onboard controls.

  • Expanded Mercury® & Yamaha® Integration

Expanded Mercury® and Yamaha® integration support, including Mercury Smart Tow functionality, gives users access to more vessel data and controls directly from the Simrad® display for a more streamlined and connected helm experience.

  • Power-Pole® Integration

Native Power-Pole® shallow water anchor and trolling motor integration allows anglers to control key fishing systems directly from the chart-plotter, helping improve positioning and simplify boat control while fishing.

  • CZone® Integration
  • The new native CZone® app delivers fully integrated digital switching control and monitoring directly from compatible Simrad®NEON™ displays. Designed for a more seamless onboard experience, users can access and control lighting, power management, tank monitoring, climate systems, and more without requiring additional hardware.

Bigger System Capability, designed to support larger and more capable integrated systems, NEON™ OS 2.5 introduces expanded split screen capability, improved routing performance, and easier route management.

  • Six-Way Split Screen Support

NSS® 4 and NSO® 4 users can now take advantage of six-way split screen layouts, making it easier to monitor charts, sonar, radar, engine data, cameras, and more simultaneously without constantly switching views.

  • Improved Auto Routing

Auto Routing performance has been enhanced with smarter channel and fairway following, bridge clearance consideration, and improved routing calculations when paired with the latest chart data.

  • Easier Route & Waypoint Management

Updated route and waypoint editing workflows provide a more intuitive and flexible experience, making it easier to build, edit, organize, and adjust routes directly from the display while on the water.
