The updated PilotStar® NX is released.

Raytheon Anschütz has just announced the release of the updated PilotStar® NX. The system’s new “Simplified View” offers navigators easier operation and greater situational awareness.

Navigators can access the “Simplified View Mode” by pressing a soft button on the autopilot’s large graphical touch screen display. The well-arranged display provides easy-to-read heading data while they set course and adjust settings with a single keystroke. Key features of the PilotStar® NX system include:

  • The well-known heading control mode, and a new “NAV” mode that enables sailing a route planned on a GPS receiver, chart plotter, or equivalent.
  • A “Trim” mode which optimizes steering performance and rudder activity for vessels with asymmetrical loads (e.g., tugs or fishing vessels).
  • A “Fix turn” function that allows pre-defined heading changes with a single push of a button.
  • Soft buttons for follow-up and non-follow-up manual control of the steering gear, and to extend to a compact steering gear control system.

The PilotStar® NX is approved as a heading control system (HCS) for standard and for high-speed crafts while offering superior steering performance, thanks to decades of experience and the proven Anschütz steering algorithms. The PilotStar® NX stands out with an extended range of functionality and intuitive operation via its seven-inch touch TFT display. Including the latest technical developments such as Ethernet communication (IEC 61162-450) and bridge alert management (BAM) makes the PilotStar® NX easy to integrate into various system environments.
